Thomas Edison created the concept of co-generation in 1882.  For decades large buildings, manufacturing plants and campuses have used this combined heat and power approach to get the maximum use of energy while also generating electricity.

Dr. Eric Guyer, an MIT entrepreneur and a 35 year energy industry veteran has now crafted the latest advancement in co-generation, known as Micro Combined Heat & Power, or M-CHP.  In collaboration with Honda, his M-CHP product called "Freewatt" is scaled and priced for use in homes, offices and apartments.  Freewatt is now being rolled out nationally by ECR International, Inc.

Sandy Creighton, HBS ’70 now generates his own electricity and heats his green home in Lincoln MA with Freewatt, saving significant money while reducing his carbon footprint by 67%.

Both will share their points of view about M-CHP technology, its place in the sustainable energy mix, and Eric’s work to commercialize and market this remarkably efficient system in New England.  In addition, an informative video tour of Sandy’s system installation by Steve Thomas, former host of THIS OLD HOUSE, will also be a part of the program.

Join us for a lively discussion of this new practical approach to energy conservation.
