The Climate Change Debate: Private Innovation versus Government Regulation

HBS Aldrich 211 NOTE CHANGE OF ROOM (map/directions)

Date/Time: Thursday, January 21 at 6:00 pm
Location: HBS Aldrich 211 (NOTE ROOM CHANGE) on the HBS campus (map/directions)

There is increasing evidence that climate change poses a serious global threat.  But how do we solve this threat?  Join us for an evening of serious debate with subject matter experts: HBS' own  Rebecca Henderson, Matthew M. Nordan of Venrock, and moderator Jürgen Weiss of the Brattle Group.
We'll cover your questions and more such as:
  • With much of the cleantech technology yet to be invented, where will the innovation come from that will be required to lead the world into a carbon free future?
  • What role can governments play?
  • Is the political will to establish and maintain high carbon prices strong enough to lead to substantial private sector investments?
  • Will private sector investment be driven primarily by profit opportunities or will government subsidies and regulation impact success?
